"Taps" is a bugle call T- a signal, not a song. As such, there is no associated lyric. Many bugle calls had words associated with them as a mnemonic device but these are not lyrics.

A Horace Lorenzo Trim wrote a set of words intended to accompany the music:

McInerny, Stephen John age 64. Died peacefully in his home in Minneapolis on October 8, surrounded by family. Husband to Margaret, his bride of 40 years. Father to Meghan, Austin, Nora, and Patrick. Grumpy to Trixie, Theo, William, Ralphie and Temple. Stephen proudly served his country as L. Cpl. in the United States Marine Corps. The youngest child of Austin and Vivian McInerny, he was preceded in death by his loving parents and brothers Ralph and Austin. He is survived by Mary Margaret, Theresa, Raymond, Roger, Maurice and Dennis. A fifth generation Minneapolitan, Steve was a voracious reader, novelist, golfer, fountain of knowledge, and writer of your favorite infomercials. He filled our world with wit and wisdom and a deep and abiding faith. We treasure the time we had together on this earth and know, in his words, "we never really leave one another." Funeral Service Monday, 10/13/14 at 10 am with visitation one hour prior at St. Helena's Catholic Church, 3201 E. 43rd St., Mpls. Interment on 10/14/14 at 10:45 am at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation Sunday, 10/12/14, from 4-7 pm at Washburn-McReavy, Nokomis Park Chapel, 1838 E. Minnehaha Parkway, Mpls. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to DeLaSalle High School.

Terry L. Coffin, age 72, of Monticello, formerly of Cedar Lake, passed away December 5, 2017. He is survived by his children, Bill Coffin, Lily Sandoval, Judith (Rob) Jordan, Jacqueline (Shawn Smith) Coffin, and Angelique (Jeff) Cowan; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Jacquelyn and his mother, Betty Lou Coffin.

Friends may greet the family on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Burdan Funeral Home, 12901 Wicker Ave. (corner of US 41 and 129th Ave,) Cedar Lake. A memorial service will take place on Thursday at 6:30 pm at the Burdan Funeral Home Chapel.

Terry was a proud veteran of the Viet Nam conflict having received the Purple Heart medal, He was the owner of Bay Side Resort in Monticello and the former owner of Coffin's Shady Beach Resort in Cedar Lake. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Born to Arnold and Josephine Androes on August 30, 1948 in Dallas, OR, Ken graduated from Dallas High School in 1967. He joined the Marines in 1968, served in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1972 during which he received several commendations and medals. After his discharge from active duty he joined the 6th Service Support Battalion in Salem, OR. In 1974 he transferred to the Oregon National Guard 1249th Engineering Battalion. In 1982 he graduated from Primary NCO School at Camp Rilea. He was discharged from the IRR in 1994 and joined the Oregon State Defense Force that same year. He rose through the ranks to the level of Major before he retired from a distinguished military career.

Ken earned an associate’s degree in Management and in Accounting from Chemeketa Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Marylhurst College. He worked for the Employment Department as a Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Representative for over 15 years helping Veterans with their benefits and to seek employment.

Ken passed away the morning of June 3, 2019. He is survived by his wife Laurie, sons Richard Androes, Jim Schultz, Nathan Androes, Greg Vasquez, Jarrod Vasquez, and daughter JacQuelin Arndt. He was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Friday, June 7, 2019, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center in Dallas, OR. The funeral will start at 11 AM at the Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center with a gathering immediately following. Click Here for Ken's Obituary webpage.

Thank you so much for reaching out, I did get your email but I keep forgetting to respond to be honest. My father passed away back in 2010, so it isn't recent. I have done research previously on my father and his military career and have been lucky enough to find some of the gentlemen he served with, Ed Warren being one of them. I happened to find your website and notice that the phone number listed was from over 15 years ago before my mother and father moved to Virginia. I do have a lot of photos that I'd like to share with you that others may not have and many of them I don't know who they are. I will get them together and send them to you to share and maybe someone will recognize themselves or another they served with.

My fathers service, particularly in Vietnam was a huge part of his life that he didn't talk about much and I've learned so much just chatting with Ed. Very excited to hear you all are having a reunion coming up, it's good to see that you all continue to support one another. Hello, my 2nd cousin Jeffrey Jerauld Hein served in Delta Company in Da Nang, Vietnam. He was a Radioman. He passed away in 1970 and I'd like to find a patch od Delta Company or a photo of one as I'd like to make a plaque in commemoration of him and all my relatives who served. He had been admitted to a care facility with dementia creating many problems. He had fallen a week or so ago and broke his hip which aggravated his condition. Dave served in 66-67 with A-2 1st Recon Bn. I sure will miss him as he has touched my life as I know several of you too, who ran many patrols with him. He had received a bronze star for carrying Wounded Harold Griffin out through the trees under fire on a harness to the chopper.
