This photo was taken at Camp Reasoner in Da Nang in November 1968. It is the 3rd Platoon, 1st Force Recon Co., Team call sign, "Moose Peak".

The photo was obtained on patrol on Charlie Ridge when the team over ran an NVA antiaircraft gun position. The photo and a large quantity of NVA weapons and gear were recovered. Missing from the team photo is Pfc Jim Sincere who was killed in the action against the gun position and Paul (Doc) Roshong who was severely injured during the rapell insert and again while giving aid to Pfc. Sincere.

We had to cancel our 2020 reunion for Washington DC due to this COVID epidemic. But, next year we are planning a big one outside of Camp Pendleton, in Carlsbad. I spend some time today looking over some old 1st Recon rosters and patrol reports. From the late sixties and early seventies. Looks like there was at least nine "Martinez" serving in 1st Reconnaissance Battalion from 1965-1970. I've eliminated six of them. The three remaining all served from the late 60s through the late 70s. The only difference are there military service numbers. Do you by chance know your father's service number? Can you give me the name of the cemetery where he's buried. I'll wrap up this posting in a day or two and send you a link to the web page. Thanks for the photos of your father. Floyd, Thank you sire for the response. My father's full name is Joseph Raymond Martinez. I know he was in Vietnam around 1971. He was at Camp Reasoner. Outside of that I don't know much. Thank you sir for your help.

He is buried at Riverside Nation Cemetery in Riverside Ca. His full name is Joseph Raymond Martinez. He was also the California President of B.R.A.V.O. (Brotherhood Rally of All Veterans Organization) he was Marine of the month of the Monthe of the south Pacific when he was stationed in Okinawa.

Message: Hello and Semper Fi. My father served with 1st Recon in Vietnam. He was at Camp Reasoner in 70 or 71 I believe. I am trying to find his fellow Recon Marines, so Ican understand better the contribution my father made for our country. He was hit with RPG near Quang Nam in Feb of 70 or 71 if I am correct.
