"Dear Tina and Family,
I was very saddened to learn of Joe's passing yesterday when visiting the AFRL at FSH and offer my deepest sympathy. Joe was a very special person with a competent and dedicated work ethic and a pleasant, helpful demeanor. He provided unmeasureable assistance to my small Army group at Brooks AFB over our tenure there and facilitated our move to FSH under the 2010 BRAC relocation. He contributed in a very special way to the research accomplishments at Brooks. One could depend on Joe's wise advice. I am very thankful to have known him and always enjoyed talking with Joe both professionally and personnaly and am very gracious for his service to the Department of Defense. May the peace of the Lord be with you all.

"We were so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. Our son Karl Culp was with Joe in 1969 in Vietnam. They were on a mission and someone stepped on a trip line.
Karl and Joe were the best of friends. They like to tease each other and laughed a lot.
Joe stayed in contact with us by phone and e-mail. We met Joe and his mother in San Antonio for dinner a couple of times. We enjoyed learning somethings of Joe's early life as told by his mother.
We have had several Marine reunions and Joe enjoyed being with his buddies and exchanging stories of their experiences.
He was a brave Marine and a good person. Bless him, he will not be forgotten."

"I met Joe for the first time during a reunion of his Recon Marine Company a couple of years ago. He was very special to this family of veterans and the family of Karl Culp. My vision of Joe was his departure with his former sergeant from Viet Nam. Hopefully that gathering brought peace to his heart."

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal`
Love leaves a memory, no one can steal`
If being loved could have saved you, you would have lived forever...
someday we will see you again..."

"We (employees) of elizabeths met Mr.Reyes (or Mr. Joe as my family and i called him) years ago at our family business. He was a wonderful man filled with joy and laughter. ALWAYS had us laughing. The majority of the time that him and Tina would come on the weekends for breakfast he never failed to mention "Don't forget tell my girlfriend I want my tortilla fresh del comal!" (Jokingly) . We all cared for him very much. He was more than a customer, more than a friend, he was family. Our deepest sympathy to his wife, his sons, and his family.
