A mentor, a role model and a friend has passed away. I always had the utmost respect for you Bob. You're someone I will always remember and honour. Even last evening I mentioned you in a conversation and your name comes up regularly, always in good memories. And then…to hear this terrible news just hours later. The idea you have left us...I can't describe it.
Your "borrowed time" as you used to say was up I guess, but way too soon. I had the privilege of knowing you and you gave me friendship and experiences of a lifetime. Although life and distance in miles were between us, you were never far away in my memories and my stories about that great man I knew.
You had a great impact on my life, who I became and the values I have. Thank you for everything! You will never be forgotten! Rest in peace!

Julie, I thank you for loving my brother and getting him to come to terms with Viet Nam days. He was happy, he was so full of life and I know you had so much to do with that. He will be missed more than words can say. You are family and we will be there for you. God bless you, Julie.

Julie and family. I served with Bob when he first came to Vietnam. We were with India Company, 3rd Battalion 5th Marine Regament, First Marine Division, an infantry unit. Bob and I were in the same squad. Bob was a great guy and a great warrior, we worked well together. No words I can say can describe what we went through, just know that Bob handled it well. We always knew we could depend on him. Bob always had a smile on his face and was always uplifting. When Bob left India Company for a recon unit, we lost an outstanding Marine and individual. I will never forget those days with him and I have thought of him often over the years. I have a picture of him and I that I have hanging on a wall that I have always treasured. I was fortunate enough to finally see him two years ago at a reunion in Wisconsin, at which time I also met Julie. You can all be very proud of Bob. I will keep him in my thoughts. Bless you all.

Oh, how I love you. Oh, how my heart is broken. You were my loving brother who was always there for me.

I thank you for your service to this great nation. I thank you for being wounded on the battlefield and over the years never complaining about your injuries and always being a "Marine".

I thank you for giving me the beautiful Bible you carried in Vietnam with our family picture enclosed. It is worn and the pages are brown but I feel your presence. You often talked to me about your faith and I know you are not hurting anymore and you are happy and joyful in God's hands.

You are resting with mama, daddy, and darrell. I know our family will be again reunited with our God and we will be singing His praises.

The pain in may heart is unbearable. My eyes fill with tears every day and they will for a long time to come I am sure.

I thank you for being such a good friend to Joey. He found that brother in you he never had. We loved your visits and waited anxiously for you to come to our home.

You were a perfect of example of courage and honor.

I will see that wide and beautiful smile of yours when we meet again in Heaven.

I love you Bobby,

Your sister Kathie
