SULIE P. BOURQUE

OBITUARY
Sulie P. Bourque, was born March 28, 1948, in Abbeville and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. Sulie spent his childhood days in Kaplan, LA and attended Kaplan High School. After high school, he volunteered to join the Marines and served in the Vietnam War. Sulie was a proud veteran and served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed traveling with his wife, Kathy, to see anything and everything about our country’s military service.

SULIE'S GUESTBOOK

Frenchy was a very dear friend. He was a fearless combat Marine as an NCO on numerous long range recon patrols into enemy territory. Long after his service in Vietnam, Frenchy undertook a very dangerous assignment. Alone and with only his own devices to depend on, he succeeded beyond expectations. Patriotism, courage and cunning were Frenchy's innate traits. He will always be remembered. Heroes like Frenchy never die.

Sulie and I were classmates, best of friends, spent two tours in Vietnam at the same times, were able to meet twice in Vietnam and also schedule an R&R to Australia. Sulie was one of a kind, kept a lot inside, and good as gold. A great Marine and dedicated to his country. He will be missed. Prayers to you Kathy and his family.

I met Sgt. Bourque when he was a clerk at Supply Schools Company at Camp Lejeune in 1971. He worked directly for the commanding officer and supervised all administrative activity for the 7000 Marines who trained there. He had completed two tours in Vietnam, and was the recipient of many awards, including the Purple Heart. During his second tour he was attached to the South Vietnamese Army and during an intense firefight saved the life of a senior officer, for which he received the South Vietnamese Medal of Honor. Sulie was an outstanding Marine. Semper Fi Sgt. Bourque
