Floyd:

I appreciate you sending us this sad, update on Gil.  My wife and I spent a little time with him and Lucille at the 2015 reunion.

Ralph M. Witkin

Sorry to hear that. Thanks for the note and prayers to his family and all his friends.

Thx Floyd. I met at the reunion last August and instantly liked him. He just was the type of Recon Marine you would want standing next to you when it counted.

I was impressed when he pledged $5K at the meeting for the the return of our sign. It prompted me match it. I will still honor my pledge and cover Gil’s pledge as well. Pass this on to those leading the effort.

Emails sent out on January 24th, 2022 to all 1st Recon Battalion Association Members and  Bravo Company Members.  On Gil's passing I also posted Facebook on the 24th of January 2022 Gil Perez was with Bravo Company 1st reconnaissance Battalion, Camp Reasoner in Da Nang Vietnam from March 1970 through March of 1971. He also was the 1st Recon Battalion Association's Unit Representative for many years "He did a fantastic job for the Association over the years. He was a hell of a marine and a very close friend."

He will be greatly missed by all his Recon Brothers. We give thanks for Gil's life. He came this way but once, yet he touched our lives in many ways while he was here. We shall remain eternally grateful for his friendship and for the influence he bestowed upon us.
